Having developed the technology and products for the genomics era, we know the impact of disruptive tools on biological discovery, and how these can rapidly change healthcare.  We formed Syndex Bio to unlock new insights in biology by building a powerful new platform that brings together molecular technologies, instrumentation and AI to accelerate the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of disease.

  • Geoff Smith

    CO-FOUNDER & CEO

    I love building companies, teams and product platforms that combine molecular technologies and instrumentation. Previously, I led the invention and development of the entire end-to-end NGS workflow - the core technology behind the $1000 genome that is now used routinely in thousands of labs around the world.

  • Gary M. Skinner

    BIOPHYSICS

    I relish bringing disparate pieces of technology together and building them into something ground-breaking and profoundly enabling. My background is in single molecule biophysics and I invented Illumina’s super-resolution imaging platform. This advance allows sequencing at densities beyond the conventional diffraction limit of light.

  • Chris Hodson

    PROTEIN SCIENCE

    I love borrowing from nature's toolbox to develop new assays and reagents, then bringing them together in novel ways to make exciting things happen. I have many years experience as a protein scientist working with high-value antibodies and complex enzymes. I joined Syndex right at the beginning, and have really enjoyed getting us started from the ground up.

  • Jack Hornsby

    ENGINEERING

    I am a strong advocate of keeping design simple and putting the user at the forefront so solutions are not only robust, but also maximize user experience. I am a mechanical engineer with over a decade of experience in healthcare innovation and life sciences. Within these fields I have developed technologies from concept to product in surgical robotics, dialysis, drug delivery, and others.

  • Caroline Caruso Carter

    BIOCHEMISTRY

    I joined Syndex right after my Masters in Oxford this past summer. I really enjoy being creative and contributing ideas to the team, as well as how fast-paced the environment is. The work is very interesting and stretching intellectually, and I'm learning how to really get things done in the lab.

    I am excited to be part of such a thriving inspirational team and learning so much of the new technology. I am an experienced Executive Assistant in a variety of sectors including semiconductors, biotechnology, education, telecommunications and International Military Alliance.
